Building on Australia’s skills

Building on Australia’s skills, released on 3rd October 2001, highlights ongoing achievements delivered during the year for the benefit of Australia. Examples from sixteen CRCs are provided. They show how the CRC Programme, through its CRCs, is helping to deliver innovation for Australia by bringing together researchers with the users of the research to ensure that the research is well focused and taken up and used.

This booklet is based on the applications for the Awards for Excellence in Technology Transfer which were presented at the CRC Associations’ Annual Conference in May 2001 in Perth. The value of our CRC trained post-graduate students was also recognised with the inclusion of stories about the work of the eight finalists who took part in a new category of Awards at the CRC Association Conference “Showcasing CRC Post-Graduate students”. The challenge given to the students was for them to show their ability to communicate effectively about a research achievement to a non-specialist audience.
