The government has pledged $75 million for a new Cooperative Research Centres on Developing Northern Australia.

The CRC, which will be based in the north, will initially focus on agriculture, food and tropical health.

“The Government had a choice whether to fund this vitally important collaboration as a Cooperative Research Centre or some other mechanism. We are naturally delighted that the government has favoured the CRC model and are confident it will pay off for Australia,” Said Dr Tony Peacock, CEO of the CRC Association.

Dr Tony Peacock is currently traveling the United Kingdom, United States and Singapore to study how business and universities work together to create innovation.
