Dr Chris Cowled identified the new viruses–Middle Point orbivirus, found in cattle, and Stretch Lagoon orbivirus, found in mosquitoes, during his PhD studies at CSIRO’s Australian Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL) in Geelong, Victoria.
